Gupscore: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐       Category: Cozy, Management

I’d honestly rate Tiny BookShop this high score for the amount of bummed out I got when the ‘This is a Demo’ note dropped. And I was just getting the knack for checking out the books I was selling.

Tiny Bookshop is at the top of my list of games to wishlist. I only heard about it in like a million recommendations on Tiktok and Youtube, and there’s a good reason for that. Game is actually good and well thought out.

First, I got a decent tutorial on how everything works. This is always my thing with most demos. Second, the cozy visuals and the slow-paced progression makes me feel I can play this game while working lol

Third, the assortment of books are interesting enough that I sort of missed going to Manila Book Fair and getting all my books before classes start. It’s not really that I’m such a book lover.. but the general cozy vibes of being around books, it’s dopamine. It gets more interesting when people started asking for recommendations and I had to read the excerpts of the current stock I have just to give a proper recommendation. Then you actually get curious about those books so you google them and turns out some are actual novels.

Bookstonbury is a quirky English-sounding name, but maybe someday this game will go international, who knows there could probably be a Bookinawa or Booklahoma or Booka Ratton lol Other tiny details–I appreciate that I can pick random items from the beach or anywhere else and use it as decoration. I also liked poking the pelican and petting the doggo.

The tiny bookshop customization could use a bit more options and there’s also not a lot of backstory about our main character aside from ‘wanting a fresh start’, so those are some things I’m looking to unlock when the game releases.

Final verdict: If I was being honest, as much as this game feels interesting, I might leave this in the backburner. I’m still 50/50 if this could be too cozy it might teeter around boring.
